Full-range driver
Read more: Full-range driver
A full-range driver reproduces the entire audible spectrum from a single cone, with no crossover. There's no crossover point and no phase shift between bands, so the image is exceptionally coherent and the source behaves like a point.
The compromise lies at the extremes: a well-designed cabinet (transmission line, back-loaded horn) or a supporting woofer helps with the deepest bass and top octave. Their high efficiency pairs beautifully with low-power valve amplifiers.
