The QED Profile RCA to RCA cable in its 1 metre length is a stereo analogue interconnect with two phono plugs at each end, intended for short connections between components that sit next to or above one another in the same rack.

Choosing the right length is not merely a tidiness question. Surplus interconnect has to go somewhere, and the usual solution, coiling it behind the rack, is the worst option available: a coil of cable behaves as an inductor and sits directly in the field of whatever mains transformers and power supplies share that space. A cable cut to the length the installation actually needs avoids the problem rather than managing it.

At one metre the electrical demands on the cable are modest. Capacitance is too small to interact with any normal source output impedance, and the exposed area available to pick up interference is minimal. What still matters is the mechanical quality of the connection. Phono plugs work by spring pressure on the outer ring, and a plug that has been repeatedly inserted into a slightly undersized socket, or left hanging under the weight of a stiff cable, eventually loses that pressure. The result is intermittent contact, heard as crackle or as one channel cutting out when the equipment is moved.

Typical applications are a CD player, DAC, streamer or tuner feeding an integrated amplifier, or a preamplifier feeding a power amplifier mounted directly beneath it. For runs to a subwoofer or across a room, one of the longer versions in the range will be more appropriate.
